Will B. Hitting the Gym

Well, I am back at the gym finally. I stopped going a couple of months ago after being sick for about a week and never was motivated to return. Being a newly made bachelor, I felt I really didn’t have anyone to impress and wasn’t very worried about my health.

Humans are often motivated by different things to get inspired to do something. Hitting the gym and eating right are two of the biggest ones. What have you not been encouraged to do? What motivates you to do what you might want to put off for another day?

The motivation came from meeting a new special lady friend; she is into getting into shape and enjoys mainly outdoor activities. So I will say yeah, looking like an out-of-shape bozo really lit a fire into my motivational area. So I am walking after dinner and now find myself hitting the gym, and when I can’t get to the gym, I use free weights and do pushups and squats.

Other reasons of motivation may be wanting to look good in summer in that new swimsuit; maybe you have not been as happy spiritually, so you are motivated to fellowship or read the Bible more, maybe your motivation is peer pressure, you don’t want to fall behind your friends in a specific area. This list of long motivations can come from just about anywhere for everybody.

I think the point I am getting at is, why is the human condition set up this way? Why do we need the motivation to do the right things in life? All goes back to God giving us free will to choose. God wants us to choose to love and follow Christ and choose to believe in Christ’s sacrifice to save us from sin. When I realized this entirely, it was like a light turned on in a dark room. Bad things happen not because God allows them but because it is all part of free will. Someone decides to do bad things, not God; someone chooses to do decent things, Free Will!

This is Will B saying, choose to do the right thing and do good deeds without the need for motivation.
