Varsity Cubs Slay Notre Dame Knights
The Olney Cubs varsity basketball team played the Notre Dame Knights Monday, Dec. 10, in the Olney High School gym. The Cubs defeated the Knights 59-28.
The Cubs scored 15 points against the Knights—7 points in the first quarter. Parker Mayers and Oscar Flores scored 2 points each, Garrett Trevino gained 4 points, and Jalen Terry made 3 points.
In the second quarter, the Cubs scored 17 points to the Knights’ 6 points. Tanner Hudson scored 2 points, Mayers scored 6 points, Terry made 4 points, and Gabe Garza scored 5 points.
The Cubs continued to lead in the scoring in the third quarter, gaining 7 points to the Knights 6 points. Mayers made 2 points, Trevino got a 3-pointer, Terry made two free throws.
During the fourth quarter, Christian Fuska made 8 points, Carter Hinson gained 2 points, and Hudson put up 10 points, which gave the Cubs 20 points in the fourth quarter.
The players’ totals for the game were: Terry 13 points, Hudson 12 points, Mayers 10 points, Fuska 8 points, Trevino 7 points, Garza 5 points, Hinson 2 points and Flores 2 points.
