Steel sharpens steel in Cubs-Trojans scrimmage
The Olney Cubs Varsity football team has a new look this year under new Head Coach Chris Tobola, who scrapped the veer offense and starts with a lineup of fresh talent.
With the loss of a number of seniors last year, many Cub players will look to quarterback Camron McComack for leadership and experience. Coach Tobola scrapped the veer system for a updated and fresh spread system, many Cub fans and alumni seemed happy at the change.
The spread will open up the passing game and allow a more complete offensive game which should help the Cubs get out of 3-and-long much easier and open up a higher chance of scoring. The Cubs looked pretty sharp and focused during a scrimmage with the Windthorst Trojans on Aug. 16 with a few issues that will be worked out as the Cubs become more familiar with the spread offense.
