OHS basketball camp sharpens skills
Coach Eric Symank of the Olney High School boys’ varsity basketball team, hosts a summer camp to help prepare athletes for the fall basketball season. Coach Symank says the athletes spend about an hour on skills like dribbling, passing and shooting then move into more specific skills such as jump stops, passing and pivoting among many other necessary skills.
“The goal of a successful basketball program is to get youth skills developed early so when athletes reach the high school level, they have the skills already developed to be successful,” Coach Symank said.
Coach Symank said the more players you have that can pass, dribble, and shoot, the better off the team will be. He added that it isn’t too late to get involved: the summer camp will run till mid-July on Mondays and Wednesdays for the younger group, and Tuesdays and Thursdays for the older group, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
