Nickel prepares the way for online instruction

Dr. Tony Nickel, the Director of Technology for Olney ISD, has been busy preparing for the elementary, junior high, and high school students to go online with their instruction, beginning Monday, March 23. The district is primarily utilizing Google Classroom for its online teaching platform as well as other websites that will help teachers achieve their state learning objectives. Nickel said, “We are blessed to have the most current technology available. My responsibility involves ensuring that each teacher, student, and parent have full access to educational sites. Every student from kindergarten through twelfth grade will be able to receive the lessons provided through these platforms. The students will be able to submit their work online, with teachers able to offer the feedback necessary for learning. We are fortunate to have a great faculty and administration who can make the adjustments to online instruction so quickly. When this pandemic ends, Olney ISD will be better than ever. I am just another piece of the puzzle as I strive to keep the technology working for our teachers.” Olney ISD, under the direction of Superintendent Roach, will keep the Olney ISD students learning and receiving a quality education, even while the schools are closed due to this pandemic.
