Lady Cubs Volleyball fired up for season

The Olney High School [OHS] Lady Cub Volleyball Squads recently took to the court against a trio of schools: Electra, Benjamin and Texas Leadership Christian Academy. The goal was to get the Lady Cubs primed for the season and work out any kinks as well as allow players to battle it out for Varsity spots on the squad.

Lady Cub Head Volleyball Coach, Danny Anderson kept a close eye on the Lady Cubs, evaluating and giving guidance as the series played out.

“It is like night and day, from the start of the program three years ago, we’re way ahead of where we were last year,” Coach Anderson said about the Lady Cubs and the upcoming season. “There’s a lot of competition going on right now (Lady Cubs vying for Varsity positions), you can move up, you can move down, there’s a lot of good people hustling, doing a lot of hard work and that’s what we’re looking for.”

Coach Anderson closed the interview by asking for the support of the community and hopes everyone will come out and cheer on the Lady Cubs.

During a recent series the Lady Cubs played Chillicothe in Olney and came close to taking the series. Game 1 Chillicothe 20-Olney 25, Game 2 Chillicothe 22-Olney 25, Game 3 Chillicothe 25-Olney 22, Game 4 Chillicothe 25-Olney 22, Game 5 Chillicothe 15-Olney 8. Fight on Lady Cubs!!!
