JV basketball team plays in City View tournament

The Olney Cubs junior varsity basketball team played in the City View tournament which was from Friday Dec. 5 through Dec.7, coming out 1-3. Although these may not be the results everyone had hoped for, this is an opportunity for the team to fix the flaws that they saw the most.

“We just have to start faster and take advantage of easy opportunities to score,” Coach Kyle Consemiu said.

Despite these flaws, Consemiu saw that the hard work the team put in during practice did pay off.

“We worked a lot on getting to the rim and finishing. Also, working or press against the varsity has helped some much when it comes to game speed reps,” Consemiu said.

Consemiu and the team have very high hopes for the season to come. This being early basketball season, much improvement can be made in many fields. Expect a great season from both your varsity and junior varsity Cubs.

“Going into the tournament we were 7-1,” Consemiu said. “ We played our worst basketball of the year the first three games but were able to fight with grit and finish the tournament on a high note. We are sitting at 8-4 with our best basketball ahead of us.”
