Golf Camp Swings into Summer

Olney High School [OHS] Golf Coach Katie Rowe put on a summer golf camp with the help of friends and family. Coach Rowe said the summer camps focus was teach not only teach beginning golfers the skills needed to succeed in the sport of golf but to also give the children a chance to have some fun this summer with a pool party and lunch after camp ended.

There were three age groups attending camp this summer, 4- and 5-yearolds, 6- to 8-year-olds and 9-year-olds and up. Each group was learning something appropriate for their age group or brushing up on skills already learned about the fundamentals of golf, but all age groups were having were learning how much fun golfing could be and making new friends, friendships that will carry on into high school and beyond.

Coach Rowe says the camp consisted of several competitions including putting, driving and chipping competition, with competitors receiving awards at the end of the final day’s competition followed by a pool party. Stations set up for the camp included driving, chipping and putting. More then 30 children attended the golf camp this year.
