Cubs fall to Wolves after three overtimes
In a hard fought and thrilling game that entered overtime, the Cubs Varsity football team fell to the Colorado City Wolves 46-43 Friday, Oct. 27.
“We went out and played hard,” said Head Coach Jason Powers.
The game had its ups and downs along and went into overtime three times with Cub and Wolf fans alike out of their seats and cheering on their team.
Powers had positive comments about Cubs quarterback senior Jacob Hernandez.
“Jacob Hernandez played his best game of the year for us at quarterback accounting for four total touchdowns,” said Powers.
Hernandez made a 13-yard pass to Jose Castillo. Then he made a 73-yard run. Cye Dixon scored on a three-yard run, and Hernandez made a touchdown on a 10-yard run.
In the overtime periods, Hernandez made a one-yard run and then passed to Castillo for a 27yard score.
Erik Nuncio kicked all the extra points.
The Cubs was scheduled to play their final game of the season against the Winters Blizzards at Cub Stadium on Nov. 3.
