Cubs’ Back to School Bash

The back to school bash for the 2019-2020 school year took place this past Monday, Aug. 12. It was a great time for the community of Olney to get to know their student-athletes and the Olney band members for the upcoming year. With the bash starting with everyone talking amongst each other while eating, this was a great way for the community to get connected to the beginning of a busy and exciting fall season.

Many people attended, some of them were parents of some of the athletes and the band members, along with people who love the Cubs as a whole. There were many Olney residents who love to see the school pride and those who enjoy supporting the Cubs in every way. At an event like this, it is entertaining to see the people of Olney getting excited about their student-athletes, which shows how much people truly care about the students and the community.

The band was introduced first, with each band member being recognized starting with the incoming freshman and working their way up to the senior band members of the 2019 class.

After the band members were introduced, it was time to recognize our 2019 volleyball players—a group led by newly hired Coach Pulliam. Pulliam introduced each player and told everyone how excited she was to be here and for the potential of this squad.

The bash continued with the Olney Cub football players walking in all at one time shortly after the bash began. The crowd excitedly greeted the Cubs with a big round of applause. Coach Guy, who is in his second year as Olney football coach and athletic director, introduced each football player from the junior varsity and varsity rosters. “I think we are going to surprise a lot of people this year,” Coach Guy said as he rallied up the Cub fans. A memorable moment was Coach Guy giving a hopeful and optimistic outlook on the 2019-2020 team.

The bash united all sorts of fans in the community—whether you mainly focus on the football team, volleyball, or the pride of Olney marching band, everyone was there to show support to all of the 2019-2020 Olney Cubs, which was an incredible sight to behold.
