Bobcat Highlights

Although Newcastle came up short (by the score of 77-38) against a talented Blackwell team last Friday night, Sept. 13, there were some positives one can take away from the game. First, while Newcastle was without one of their leading playmakers, JD Brice, the Bobcats exhibited a great deal of heart and grit. There is no quit in this year’s squad. The Bobcats battled as they were led by the senior leadership of JT Spurlin and Lane Brice. Second, although they have lost their games in recent weeks, they continue to prove they can go toe-to-toe with some of the best teams in Six-Man football. Filled with talent, the Bobcats will use these previous games to fuel their passion for the remainder of the season.

As district play is set to begin, the Bobcats plan on returning to their winning ways against the Woodson Cowboys this Friday. While Newcastle hopes to have the reigning Super Six MVP, JD Brice, back on the field after suffering a concussion against Gordon, the boys will be ready to take the field and make the first step to being district champs at the close of the regular season. Because many of these athletes have played together for years, they are fun to watch as they compete on each down and work well together. Twins JD and Lane Brice have shown some great talent working together as well. It is going to be an exciting football season as we look forward to many victories in the near future.
