What happened to the Lions ?

When exactly did we, as a nation, start to sell our freedoms for the perception of safety? Did it start in 1984 when New York mandated that drivers must wear seatbelts? Forty-eight states over the next 11 years followed New York’s lead, just another reason to hate them dang Yankees. It’s possible that was the beginning of the government to intercede on the safety of the populace.

The United States used to be a nation of lions, but as I look around it has become apparent that the lions that once populated the U.S. have mostly disappeared or have fallen into a deep sleep, allowing the government to slowly strip away our rights all for the sake of making us safer. Safety is just perception of what anyone person thinks or feels. Humans are a delicate creation and yet strong at the same time, what dictates either depends on what is in a person’s heart and mind. If we raise a nation of children trying to protect them from every danger whether it be physical, mental or emotional, then we are dooming the future of not only the U.S. as a strong nation to be feared and counted on to help in turbulent times but also dooming freedom. The U.S. has been at the forefront of protecting democracy and freedom ever since we threw off the shackles of British rule.

You can pass a law to make us wear seatbelts but people will still die in accidents, you can ban guns but they will still be in the hands of criminals and leave us unable to defend our families. The point is, you can pass laws till you’re blue in the face and we are all shut up in our homes because a law has been passed making it too dangerous to go outside. Humans are not meant to live forever. I would rather live free and in danger then have a government tell me what I can and can’t do simply because someone somewhere, probably California, thinks it is too dangerous.

The government is bloated and has to much power. This is not what our founding fathers had in mind when creating a free nation. We are not safe; no law will ever make you safe. It is time to become a nation of lions again and not a nation afraid of our own government. We should not be renting our land from the government. This is Will B saying, wake up Lions and make your roar heard at the polls this year.
