This past week was quite the adventure. Most will have had the same experience as those around them this past week. Some will have had it worse and some will have had it better, all depending on location and the amount of electricity they had and the duration in which they have had it.

Some will look at the rolling black out as an adventure, with some looking at it as a hardship. Speaking in generalization of course because there will always be extreme cases of any situation that would make the rolling black out a dire situation. I am speaking in general about those who had received the rolling black outs, most 30 minutes on and 30 minutes off.

With all that said, I thought of and treated the situation as an adventure. Making games of a sort of what would be done with each 30 minutes the power was on and what could be done in the 30 minutes. After the 30 was done it was a rush to get all snuggled in and continue watching Netflix on our phones or playing games on the phone.

I came across a post on a friends Facebook page from the Mayor of Colorado City, Texas. My friend was greatly offended by the words the Mayor posted. Some responded to his timeline for and against the words of the Mayor of Colorado City, Texas. The gist of the speech was that as Texans we are ultimately responsible for taking care of ourselves and our families in any given situation. It is our responsibility if we have no water to go out and find a way to supply water to our family either by buying bottled water, a tank to fill with water or even to dig a well. If we have no heat it is our responsibility to provide heat if we are cold, maybe by bundling up, building a fire or even buying a generator. The same goes for any number of other essential things.

The Government is not here to guarantee any of these things, nor should they be. To many have grown accustomed to having everything handed to them in dire situation or even normal every day needs. As American citizens we are guaranteed freedom. Freedom of many things. We are not guaranteed that our every need will be handed to us. Although there are many organizations and even government programs to make sure those who need help do receive help.

Having your every need met by the government is a slippery slope that leads straight into socialism. If you are not familiar with the countless countries throughout history that have brought dire consequences and destruction to their people through socialism, I recommend spending some time researching the subject online for yourself. These may be extreme ideals for some but I base my ideals on the study of past cultures histories, the study of the Bible and common sense. This is Will B saying, we are responsible for taking care of ourselves.
