You’ve got to be kitten me...

Since we have put up our tree, Starfox has knocked it down three times, almost knocked it down-Godknows how many times-and we have to keep getting onto him for chewing on the lights. He is by far one of the most nerve-wrecking animals I have ever had, but I guess I gotta love that about him. He keeps my home life far from boring.

For the past few months, I have been ordering a few Christmas presents each payday. Christmas shopping early on is a must when you have teenage children and don’t want to go completely broke in one month. I decided not long ago to wrap the rest of the gifts that I’ve accumulated and place them under the tree. It felt good to get my closet space back and the tree didn’t look so lonely anymore.

However, I should’ve known better. One of Starfox’s favorite pasttimes is to attack our cases of water that we leave sitting by our back door. He will go crazy for hours attacking and biting off pieces of the plastic wrapping. So, why I thought placing presents under the tree was going to go differently, I have no idea. By morning, when I got up to make coffee, there were little pieces of paper strewn throughout the hallway and kitchen in our apartment. Still being half asleep, I figured he got into the toilet paper – again.

At some point while making coffee, I froze. It dawned on me what it was. I went to the Christmas tree and just stopped. He had torn pieces of paper off of a few of the presents. After saying a few choice words and showing him what he did was wrong, I put the semi-opened presents back into my closet and contemplated whether I should rewrap them now or just wait till closer to Christmas.

Even though he drives me crazy, I honestly can hardly wait to see how he reacts on Christmas morning when the kids are unwrapping the presents. My living room is going to be heaven for him with all the paper.
