A thank you to the staff at Olney Hamilton Hospital

From Feb. 12-18, I had the opportunity to stay in our hospital. Although it wasn’t under good circumstances (no hospital stay usually is), I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Not long after my admittance (before receiving morphine) there was a point when I believed my pain was insufferable and I was in misery. Wishing for the pain and discomfort to stop, I was begging silently for death. Nothing is more draining than despair. But similar to a lighted candle in a dark room, Dr. Johnson and the nursing staff gave me hope when I thought it all hopeless.

I cannot compliment the Olney Hamilton Hospital staff enough for the level of care they provided me and would like to thank each of them for collectively making my stay as easy and comfortable as it could be. They were overall caring and as gentle as possible. Not even one became rude with me when my fear of needles would trigger a slight panic attack prior to having blood drawn or my IV relocated. I worked in the medical field for 12 years. It can be strenuous to not get irritated with some patients, so I commend them for not telling me to quit being a baby. Also, unlike the brusque and sometimes robotic “bedside manner” that is frequently associated with medical facilities, the staff showed genuine and extraordinary compassion and concern.

Thank you OHH nurses and staff for going above and beyond. God bless you all.
