The mesquites are greening up, tulips are up, the grass is green - it must be springtime. A monarch visited me..., so now I KNOW it’s spring! Butterfly, not a person. It floated toward me as I watered my plants as if to say, “Hello,” and I gazed in amazement at its graceful flight and vibrant colors. Yes, it’s definitely the beginning of spring!

‘Tis time for baseball and track to occupy the time for parents now. Something is happening every week, so nothing more gets put on the calendar for weeks to come. What a great experience to sit in the stands watching our kids performing! Sometimes we sit with suntan lotion, basking in the sunshine while attired in sleeveless shirts and shorts, but more often than not, we sit in coats and hats shivering in icy cold winds or actually sitting on snow-covered bleachers. Blankets are necessary equipment for parents to keep in the car during this season for obvious reasons. Are parents crazy? No, they are proud of their offspring and are being ultra supportive of their mini selves. Way to go parents! Keep it up! It means everything to those kids on the field!

Several at the Center felt a bit puny last week due to allergies and coughing, Angela and Kimberly were kept busy busy in the kitchen last week due to some absences, but what a great job they did! Thanks gals for a job well done. The “84” games were cancelled last week due to the aforementioned illnesses, so “42” got the nod for the week. James Walton did the calling for our Bingo session since we were on our own last week. Normally, the home health agencies supply the prizes and do the calling, but no one came last week. Speaking of the home health people - what a great job they do coming by to do blood pressure checks on us. Their diligence has sent several patrons to their doctors for some extra care. How thankful and appreciative we are to have them checking on us regularly.

The next creative workshop this month will involve the making of soap. Slots are limited, so contact Angela here at the Center if you are interested. Gib Wright and I shared stories about making lye soap with our mothers. What neat things we learn about each other here at the Center. There are so many interesting people here, with great tales to tell. They make my day every day! Love ALL of them!

Enjoy every day! Enhance someone else’s life with small, but potent gestures of caring. The effort will make your heart sing!
