A freshly washed car is a beautiful thing, but sometimes I wonder, “Why bother!” Don’t get me wrong, I do like a clean car, but the feeling of dread and sorrow that follow are not pleasant. I immediately start glancing around to see if a spy has reported the perfect canvas (my immaculate car) to his insect and bird co-conspirators. Word spreads quickly and plans are made to bombard my car as I head home; the insects sacrifice their tiny little bodies to make impressive little black dots or vibrant splashes of yellow on my windshield! Their artistic talents do not go unnoticed... because their strokes of genius are right before my eyes! Then I begin to wonder (as I prepare to wash the masterpiece from the glass) if I should have a funeral service for those who gave their ALL to make an impression on me! What a quandary!

On a lighter note, what fun it was to recognize our birthday “boy” for April – James Jenkins -- all week last week. A rousing song started the week off on a fun note and we tried to remind him daily that he was going to be a year older. Mission accomplished!! Thursday the 27th will be the “official” birthday party at the Center with cake and ice cream. Y’all come!

Have you noticed the delightful pops of color along the highways? Those state workers threw those seeds out to brighten our drives this spring. A huge thanks to them. Several people in Olney also planted bluebonnets this year. Our state flower is quite beautiful!

May will bring Mother’s Day, so make plans to celebrate with her or make it a day to remember your heavenly mom in a special way. The same goes for dads on Father’s Day in June. Many times I have wanted to ask a question of a parent lately. Sure wish I had asked lots of questions while they were still living.

Have a super week and try not to fret about washing your car.
