Sometimes we are surprised by unique happenings when we least expect it. Sitting quietly at the park under the shade of an oak tree, I saw a most beautiful and fluffy little white dog run up the steps and start to romp around on the cool grass. No human person was with it, so I was a bit concerned for its safety. Just then a big gray pickup pulled up to the curb and the pup’s ears perked up. A big smile covered that hairy little face as it raced to the truck as fast as its legs would carry it. When that man opened his door, the dog’s tail went wild and into the truck it jumped. Its human had come! Oh, happy day! Made me smile at the bond between a dog and its human papa. Such a sweet encounter!

On Saturday, April 22, one of our special people at the Center will be celebrating a birthday. James Jenkins will be adding another year, but we’re not divulging just how many. James has been a knight in shining armor to many of us and is ever ready to lend a helping hand. He rescued me when a previous vehicle croaked on me and he made sure I got safely home. He is a help here at the Center and has helped out several damsels in distress. He deserves a pat on the back or a big ol’ handshake, so wish him well this week, on or before his birthday! Have you noticed those huge mosquito-looking insects lately? There were 30 of those rascals waiting at my front entrance when I got home. No, they are not mosquitos on steroids; they are Crane Flies. They are much bigger than skeeters by a long shot. They are completely harmless and don’t bite---they just like hanging out in wind-sheltered places. Their lifespans as adults are a couple of weeks, although they may live two or three years in the larvae stage. They remind me of those spider machines the farmers use to spray their cotton. Cool-looking bugs. Remember to be kind this week. Kindness is NOT an act; it’s a lifestyle. Always be kind!
