What an eventful Christmas week we had counting down the days until that jolly old elf in a red suit planned on visiting. Monday the group of diners were challenged to tear ( no scissors allowed) a Christmas tree from an old page of a newspaper. Several methods were utilized, but not all met with success, although valiant efforts were given to produce a tree worthy of a prize. An independent judge ruled Wanda McDaniel the overall winner with Bob Dillard a close second. Bob’s was super neat, but alas he bent the “tear” rule. His was folded into a tree shape with just two 1 1/2” tears. Juanelle Scott garnered the #3 spot. It was fun to watch those gears turn as they ultimately figured out their plan of attack. A big “thank you “ to all who participated.

Tuesday ‘s activity was two-pronged. I read “ ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” and then asked them to recite the reindeers names back to me to receive a free meal ticket. James Ford and Nita Hearne both came up with seven ( after getting one another mixed up), but it was Edward Furr who got all eight! Way to challenge those brain synapses!

Wednesday was BINGO day with four gals and two guys eager to win some prizes. Such fun and lots of laughter !

Those guys, Bill and Corky, entertained us with their quips and humor all morning. The prizes were great, too! If anyone is interested in playing, just come on down to The Center by 10:30 and join us. The experience is sure to tickle your “funny bone”!

A special treat on Wednesday: Angela presented all the diners with special gifts for the holiday season and Nancy prepared a delicious meal, and even stretched her horizons by baking her first-ever pumpkin pies. Those pie slices disappeared quickly and several munchers even got two slices! There were no stuffed turkeys, but plenty of people who needed to extend those belts!

Thursday brought that frigid air and those snowflakes, so everyone hurried a bit quicker to get inside. It is always toasty warm inside among all those warm, friendly people!

I hope you had a grand time with family and friends during the holidays, and cheered on your favorite teams. Remember to remember the upcoming Soup R Bowl fundraiser coming up pretty soon.

Happy New Year!!
