Publisher’s Points to Ponder: “Time really does fly as you age”

Can you believe that this year is coming to an end? It is hard for me to believe, but time seems to speed up as my age increases. How many times have you said and heard this? I have discovered that I’m not the only one who thinks the time is passing rapidly each year with age. Various psychologists have surmised this concept throughout the years. However, a math professor has documented that time does appear to speed up with age.

According to an article posted by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, professor Adrian Bejan argues that “Over time, the rate at which we process visual information slows down, and this is what makes time speed up as we grow older.” He substantiates his argument with physics, and he cites the correlation between neurons and the processing of electrical signals. Blah, blah, blah. I will not pretend to understand physics. I want you to see that science is behind our belief that time is passing by quickly.

While thinking about ending the 2020 year, I recalled a movie I recently watched on YouTube TV, “Interstellar,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway. McConaughey travels through time to ensure the sustainability of humankind. He decides to leave his daughter to save the world. He leaves her with the promise that he would see her again. Unfortunately, when they reconnect, he is the same age he was when he left, and she is an older woman on her deathbed. I enjoyed the way they played with time and speed during the movie.

After watching the movie, I pondered on time and age. If I could travel through time to freeze my age, would I take advantage and pursue interstellar travel? Let me think about it. Absolutely. Would you?

Meanwhile, until interstellar travel becomes a reality, use your time wisely. Take time to enjoy life with friends and family. Find purpose in every minute of each day. Remember to watch Interstellar available for free on YouTube TV; Also available for rent on Amazon Prime and Netflix. Enjoy the movie.
