Publisher’s Points to Ponder: “Letters to Santa”

So, I have been reading some of the letters to Santa for 2020. Most of the letters are hilarious, while others are caring and simple. I am glad that I no longer need to stress about “asking Santa” to get the coolest toys in high demand. I gave up submitting to the commercialization of Christmas a while ago. Instead of running around trying to remember to get a gift for everyone; Instead of standing in long lines for doorbuster sales, Instead of having a meltdown while deciding what would be the perfect gift--I sit back and watch everyone else stress.

If you are reading this on the publication date, you have 14 days to finish your shopping. Are you stressed? Well, at least you don’t have to worry about what your child(ren) want. Santa has permitted us to publish those letters in the next issue. Just wait until you see those lists. I hope you have your running shoes on your feet, and you are geared up to go. Have I mentioned how happy I am now that I don’t need to fight over toys and gadgets during last-minute shopping sprees?

I am sitting back right now enjoying the thought of a peaceful Christmas that I get to share with friends and family who have adopted my views about minimizing consumerism on a holiday that is supposed to be about celebrating the birth of Christ.

For those of you who enjoy the hype of the holiday and enjoy spending time with your loved ones while scurrying through the stores, I wish you well. Keep those traditions alive if they bring you closer together. Most importantly, do not stress.
