MyNickel’sWorth

Also Blessed.

I will be turning 24 in just a few days. It is hard to believe and with another birthday coming up, it has giving me time to reflect on my life to this point and where I am today. As I begin life in my mid-20’s, I think about so many different things—including my childhood, vacations, major events, and college. I also try to remember my previous birthdays and where I was then, in retrospect to where I am now.

As I take a step back and think about my life, the more I think about it, the more I know that God has put me in the perfect position, which goes for everything in my life— my wife, family, friends, and my job have all played a part to where I am today. It is just so crazy how God puts you in certain situations in life, and you have no idea where it is going to lead you, but in the end, it leads you to exactly where he wants you to be. It does not feel too long ago that I was just an 18-year-old kid starting a new journey in college where I had never lived on my own or had a job. I was worried about making friends in college because it is so hard to find people that follow Christ, but on the first day of school, I met people that are still best friends of mine even six years later. The same goes for finding a girlfriend—I was worried that I would not find a girl that shared the same beliefs and values as me, but I did—just at the perfect time. My family has always been there for me in everything, and that has never changed. But my family and I have had so much change throughout the years, and I know that it has led us to where we are now.

That leads to me to this job. I had just graduated from college and was looking for a summer internship. I became an intern at the Olney Enterprise in May of 2019 and never looked back, but I never dreamed that I would become the editor of this incredible newspaper. I am so thankful for everyone that I work with and that I work for. It hasn’t seemed like I’ve even worked for a day because I love what I do, and I love the people I work with. I also want to thank the people of the community for being so nice to a 22-year-old kid over a year and a half ago who didn’t know anyone and was going into a world of the unknown. It has made everything so much easier, and I cannot thank you all enough.
