My Nickel’s Worth Comfort Zones

A few days ago, I went to a local park in Tulsa called Turkey Mountain.

I finally decided that I needed to give it a try after a few weeks of mulling it over. I really wanted to try something new by going walking/running on a trail to make exercising more fun and enjoyable. I am usually not the type of person to be adventurous and go hiking at a trail that I have never been to, but I decided that I wanted to do something new and fun.

I am glad I ended up going because it turned out to be a blast. I was able to get outside in the nice spring weather and explore a place that I was completely unfamiliar with. It gave me a chance to get a good, unique workout while at the same time, I was able to have some alone time. During this time, I was just able to think about life, get familiar with the trail, check out the nice views from the mountain, and spend time in prayer. It just made me feel better to get out into the open air and be out in nature. Whitnie would have liked to come with me, but she was busy with medical school late into the evening hours.

As I previously stated, I am usually not one to get out and do something adventurous like this, but it was a great feeling to be outside for a long period of time and remain active. It was an incredible feeling to be able to get out of my comfort zone and go do something fun and rewarding for myself.

I encourage everyone to do the same—if you are thinking about doing something that you don’t normally do, step out of comfort zone and go do it. I plan on going back to the park in a day or two and be able to get into a routine of going all the time. It is important to stay active and I am glad I was able to find this park!
