Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Sitting here in my home under a shelter in place order with the windows open, listening to the birds sing and the warm caress of a 75-degree breeze blowing through the house I can’t help but think of the very first verse in the Bible.

This very first verse to me is an extremely powerful tool for me in most any situation where I might want to begin to worry about things going on around me. If you truly believe in God then this verse should really be at the core of the reason you should trust in God.

Stop for a moment and really think about it. All powerful, omni-present and the creator are but a few things to come to mind when I think about this verse. Do you really think God who created all things, created the universe, created the Earth, the people, everything you have seen or heard of, can’t handle your problems?

Hebrews 11:1 ESV “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen”. Put your trust in Gods power. He created you. He loves you and only wants the very best for you.

There is a great deal of people who always say if he loves us why does he let bad things happen. One day during studying with the bible, this verse really stood out to me. Genesis 2:16-17 16 “And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” God has given us free will to choose. You can not have freedom to choose without the inevitable bad things that happen from people who make the wrong choices. To me it was a harsh reality but it struck home quickly and solved the question for me as to why bad things happen. The reason I bring this point up is because it has a lot to do with faith for me and maybe others. Knowing why bad things happen helps me to trust more that God has a plan. You have to freely choose to believe in God.

2 Peter 3:8 “8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day”. To me this clearly means Gods time is different from mans time. When we pray God has a plan and a time for the answering of our prayers. It does not always fall on the time we go by. Sometimes the answer to our prayers is what we need and not what we want as well. We must trust in God and know he will deliver on his promises and answer our prayers.

Isaiah 40:31 “31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint”. Put your faith in God, pray, know he loves you and has a plan for you and you will find your worries evaporate and your strength renewed.
