DEVOTIONAL

“Yes, our God is compassionate.” Psalm 116:5 NASBS

The Lord’s divine benevolence has reached down from heaven touching all of His creation. Even though man has sinned against Him, The Lord, clothed with infinite love, displays to him His glory. He allows the sun to rise each morning as the dew from heaven glistens upon the grass. He decorates the night with the stars while the moon shines forth the glory of the sun, demonstrating power unequalled to all humanity. The heavens are telling the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day The Lord pours forth His speech in all He has created, and night after night He reveals His knowledge to the hearts of those who seek Him.

Come now my beloved, may your imagination sore back in time. Recall the vivid imagery of the things seen that have been stored in your mind. Think about the mighty oceans that roar with such power, hurling up enormous waves, and is yet kept at bay by the strength of God’s mighty hand when He says, “Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further?” But yet in the stillness of its calm, at evening tide, this same mighty ocean reflects a beauty that captivates the human mind when it seems as if the sun is swallowed up in its depths. For what can compare to this interlude upon The Lords celestial stage, where the blue sky meets the water as the sun beams reflect its rays?

Shall we not also allow our imaginations to let us climb to the peaks of the highest mountain tops and gaze upon the wonders of God’s creation. Such mountains that have stood for ages in the silence of time, having been formed by tectonic plates beneath its surface with great force and pressure. Marvel oh man as you look out upon the beauty of its vast creation. While standing in the midst of the clouds can you see the ravines, the valleys, the large boulders that set upon a precipice as if nothing were holding them there. Can you not see the magnificent mark of God’s handiwork as a bird soars to the highest ledge to build a nest were no human foot has ever stood? Awake oh sleeper, arise from the dead and see the beauty God has demonstrated to us in all that He has created.

There is yet to be described another beauty of God’s infinite love. But the description of this beauty is only found upon the pages of holy scripture. It is the beauty of God Himself in the person of Jesus Christ. The scriptures tell us there is no love greater than one who is willing to lay his life down for another, and that is exactly what Jesus Christ has done. This is an ocean too deep to ever plumb its depths, and a mountain too high to ever reach its summit.

Today, may Infinite Love lead you to gaze upon Calvary’s cross. May you see with all clarity the marred body of Jesus Christ, who gave His back to those who scourged Him, and His cheeks to those who plucked His beard. No one will ever understand the agony that He went through, nor the death blows He endured. Such love has never been seen before or ever will be again. Do you see Him hanging between heaven and earth pinned to a cross? Look into His eyes. Do you see them covered in blood, sweat, tears; mingled with the saliva in His own creation? Listen to his voice. Do you hear the utterances of His sighs as He is gasping for air crying, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing?” You see, Jesus Christ bore the wrath of God’s justice for the sins of all humanity upon the cross, and yet without sin. He is the perfect sacrifice Who was slaughtered and Who was raised from the dead after three days. He is able to save all who will come to Him with faith and repentance. Will you come to Him today, for our God is compassionate?
