“This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day.”

John 6:39 NASBS

The grace that God bestows upon His children after they put their faith and trust in the death and resurrection of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ is exceedingly incomprehensible to mere human logic. As a matter of fact, apart from the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, in which The Spirit of God pursues and draws the human heart to be subject to Jesus Christ, man will not ever humble himself to such a notion. Men would rather shake their fist in the face of Almighty God than to render themselves subject to an absolute standard of morality that would bring them to be subject to moral laws that infringe upon the carnal desires.

Oh, the grace of God, how sweet it is to those who have freely received this gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. For as the Lord said Himself, “Of all that He has given Me I lose nothing but raise it on the last day. For this is the will of My Father that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.” The Apostle John, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit also tells us in his epistle, “No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed, abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.”

I believe we see God’s eternal love displayed in the Apostle Peter’s life. For in one of the darkest moments of his life, while his Savior was being tortured, Peter followed Him into the courtyard and sat down by a fire to warm himself. It was there that a servant girl accused him of being with Jesus Christ. On this cold night, Peter denied even knowing Him three times, even to the point of swearing. Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed, and The Lord looked at Peter, and he remembered what the Lord had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.” And Peter went out and wept bitterly. These tears of conviction cut through Peter’s soul with deep travail. Peter had denied his King, and the evidence of His love for Jesus was displayed in his actions. Who can truly understand what agonies Peter felt during this time? But, because of God’s unconditional grace for His children, the story does not end here for Peter. The Lord would come back to him after He was raised from the dead and grant him mercy. Peter belonged to the Lord the day God called him, and no one could pluck him from His Hands. Peter would become one of the greatest preachers of his generation, and at the end of his life, he would become a martyr for the One Whom he once denied.

Beloved, though many may refute this doctrine with rage, rest assured that if God is in you the hope of glory, and He has rescued and sealed you by the Holy Spirit for the day of redemption, you are saved. He will keep you, and He will sustain you by the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit until the end. Jesus Christ is the good Shepherd, and if one of his sheep goes astray, He will bring him back to the fold.  Eternal security by no means justifies antinomianism. Still, just the opposite, it produces a heart of worship to The Lord Who is sovereign overall things.
