Hang on to your hats! This blustery weather may send that nob-topper into the next county if you don’t hold on tight. You lightweights might want to stuff your pockets with a bunch of rocks to keep yourselves upright against those 25- 40 mph winds. Poor Valorie Mahler almost lifted off into the wild blue yonder while delivering several trash bags full of decorations into the Center this week. If you cowboys see her flying by, whip out the ole lasso and pull her back to good old terra firma.

If you drive west on Hwy 114, you might sense that something is different. Right, you would be, too—that eyesore of a dilapidated motel is gone! Looks much better now.

If you want to get a COVID booster shot, call the Clinic to make an appointment.

Halloween 2021 is now history. The Cub Center got a charge from Edwana Fikes as she showed up with a new “do” on Oct. 29 to claim the prize for best costume. Beautiful as ever, Edwana!

Our Cub bus participated in Trunk or Treat Oct. 31 and passed out loads of candy from our ghostly decorated ride. Always fun to see all those cute kiddos!

Don’t forget to set those clocks back an hour Saturday, Nov. 6, or you can forget and surprise everyone by getting to Bible class on time this week.

Call Cub Center to volunteer at your convenience if anyone has some free time, whether once a day or once a week, or whenever. Ideas: deliver meals 10:30-11 a.m., answer the phone, assist diners 12:00-1:00, share a craft, teach a skills class, lead a gentle exercise class, or etc.

What would happen if bees suddenly disappeared from the face of the earth? Albert Einstein said man would have only four years to live. That sounds pretty dire, but it may not be far from the truth. Almost 90 percent of all wild plants and 75 percent of leading global crops depend on animal pollinators. That means that one out of three bites of our food we take depends on pollinators. So, one-third of our world’s crops would disappear without bees! Sobering thought! Not only do bees spread pollen around, but they also make delicious honey for us to eat. We can help stop the decline in our bee population by planting more flowers that are more suitable to their tastes and needs and by respecting them as partners in life’s journey. Bee-friendly!

Another reminder about Nov. 11- we are honoring all Vets with a free turkey meal and a recognition program on that day. Live music and an agenda filled with praise and thankfulness for those men and women will last from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Spread the word and call the Center at least a day ahead to allow our cooks to prepare enough food for all attendees.

November Birthdays: 2- Allen Bernhardt, 9- Glenna Chapman, 13- J.R. Smith, 22- Dorothy Cook and 24- Nadyne Copeland. Have a great week and treat others as you want to be treated!
