Commissioner’s Court

The Young County Commissioners Court held their last meeting of the month on Monday, July 27.

The meeting began by approving the minutes from the previous meeting on July 20. First up on the agenda was to consider the treasurers financial report and updates on securities pledged. The court discussed and considered a resolution for substitution or withdrawal of securities pledged and “Held in Trust by Texas Independent Bank,” according to the agenda.

The auditors budget amendments and vouchers payable were both discussed and approved by the court. The court quickly moved on, considering the engagement letter for outside audit from Edgin, Fleming, Parkman and Fleming, PC.

The court approved employee bonds for Alicia Langford and Darrell Gilmore--who are both involved with the Young County Community Supervision and Correction Department. The bonds were both $5,000 each. The court discussed putting a radio antenna at the Sheriff ’s office on the tower fir emergency purposes for the radio station 100.5 KBLY--this was approved.

Equipment lease by county with the First National Bank for a new Mack Truck was considered and passed for Precinct #2. At around 10 a.m., single coarse chip seal bids were received, discussed by our very own Stacey Rogers.

Young County Sheriff spoke with the court about considering the replacement of Sherriff office vehicles. The court approved a resolution from TXDOT CTIF shortly after.

Next on the agenda was to consider to re-adoption of the Young County Procurement Policy. The court discussed and considered burn restrictions before moving on to the budget workshop with Budget presentations from Chris Baran, the Young County Attorney, Jamie Land, the District Clerk, and Kay Hardin, who is the Young County Clerk. This concluded the last meeting in July.
