May is here! We got a lovely rain last Wednesday! Flowers are blooming! Life is good! The trees are resplendent with an array of green hues, from near yellow to deep dark green. Their leaves also vary in shape and size, from small and wispy to broad and stout. Together they make a lovely, soothing spectrum of calmness and beauty. Enjoy the blessings of nature that surround our nice little city of Olney.

Our April Birthday Bash was last Thursday and the one honoree was James Jenkins. The nimble fingers of J.R. Smith tickled those ivories as we sang happy birthday to James with a mixture of off-key and harmonizing voices. Cake and ice cream followed; life is good!

I apologize to all of my neighbors! Please don’t throw rocks at me; my vehicle was acting independently when it shrilled and honked with lights flashing numerous times Sunday night. After five or six alarm episodes I called OnStar for answers. Diagnosis: motion sensor detected movement inside the vehicle. Examination of vehicle produced a possible subject--- a deflated balloon in the back seat. NOT the problem! Alarm sounded again after a few minutes, so checked again: nothing. Thankfully at 11:30 p.m., all was quiet. 2:30 a.m. brought feet to floor as the honking and shrieking jarred eyes open. Enough! I sat in the car until 6 when the culprit revealed itself. Then I committed murder! No more miller bug!

May birthdays: Jerri Corbin Ford (1), Clifton Richardson( 1), Boots Davis (6), Ellen Hardin (7), Kimberly Watkins (23), and Carlos Bowden (29).

Fun sight of the week: a dog in the back of a pickup one early morning propped himself up as high as he could so he could see over the cab. His ears flopped in the wind and he was one happy hound dog. Smiles all around!

Spread your smiles around this week... and you can even let your ears flop in the wind if you want to;)
