Whoop ta do! We crisped that bacon; we cooked those sausage patties; we brewed that coffee; we chilled the milk and orange juice; we flipped those pancakes; we greeted our guests! What a joy to hear the lovely chatter and laughter -- it made hearts happy. Yes, our pancake breakfast fundraiser for 2022 is now history. Thank you, thank you to all who came, thank you for generous donations, and thank you for the smiles you generously gave . What a day it was!! A special thank you to 3-T MEATS and STEWART’S FOOD STORE -- they donated all the meat!!! What a great town and what great people! We are so grateful for the generosity shown us!

We’ll have another opportunity to serve some tasty food to you before too long. Superbowl Sunday Souper, better know as Souper Sunday will be here in January. Oh, that delicious hot soup with cornbread and/or crackers served with coffee or tea will most certainly take the chill out of your bones. Some come for that LUSCIOUS dessert- oh, yum-yum! Can’t fault them for that; it is delicious! We’re looking forward to seeing you here again, so reserve that date!

We’ll get our aprons all pressed and neat for that day for sure.

Those pumpkins have appeared in yards again - I love fall. The colors of changing leaves can be quite breathtaking! Right now we have some spooky Halloween decorations making their appearances in some yards. In contrast, some yards are adorned with cute nonscary decorations. Some of the frightening displays remind me of Tim, the tool man. He was always up for scaring someone. If you get a chance, drive around to get a glimpse of them; some people are really creative.

Marvin and Wanda Swain have taken one of our delivery routes. They join another twosome, Mitch and Belinda Camp, who also graciously donate their time to deliver meals for us. Various people will sometimes fill in for a regular deliverer because of sickness or a day-off need. These people are to be commended for donating time and effort to help feed our clientele, so please praise them for their efforts. They are awesome!

I hope you saw the meteor shower. This one is from the tail of Haley’s Comet. It could be seen a bit better because the moon is just a tiny sliver in the sky, making it more visible. As with any meteor shower, you get a better look if you get away from city lights.

Enjoy this cooler weather. Go for a walk or just sit on your porch with a hot cup of coffee or a mug of hot chocolate, listen to the birds, or watch the straggler butterflies flit about. There is so much beauty and calmness about nature, so take advantage of the time allotted before bitter cold sets in. We all need a bit of calmness in the hectic lives we now live.

It takes fewer muscles to smile than to frown. Take that as a incentive to smile often. Your smiles bring out smiles in others- it’s contagious! Let’s spread the contagion! Have a wonderful week.
