“National Fast Food Day”

“National Fast Food Day”

I can hardly believe that I am bringing light to National Fast-Food Day on Nov. 16. But, with the rise of diabetes and obesity in the U.S., is this a day that we should celebrate? I’ve pondered this notion, and I’ve decided that it is OK to celebrate this day.

There are many reasons you shouldn’t feel guilty about celebrating National Fast-Food Day, but the most important reason is that each of us is responsible for what we put into our bodies. We can’t expect the world to be void of the things that trigger negative behavior. We must hold ourselves accountable. So, go ahead and celebrate in moderation, and get back on track the next day.

Many sources state that White Castle restaurant was the first fast-food restaurant established in 1921 in Wichita, Kansas. Moreover, more than a million restaurants throughout the U.S. (inclusive of fast-food restaurants) employ more than 15 million people. The job creation in the food industry alone is a good reason to celebrate the day. With that in mind, go ahead and celebrate the day that has brought happiness to busy parents who are thankful for those golden arches. We all know that children can spot those arches from a mile away. Celebrate the day by supporting the local businesses. Moderate your meal by sharing it with someone you love.
