Benefits of early morning exercise
As a health advocate, the one regimen that I wish people would subscribe to is the early- morning workout. There are so many benefits associated with starting your day with exercise. If you don’t believe me, ask the ladies who have consistently shown up four days a week to attend my fitness classes. Since you don’t know who they are, I will break down some rewards you reap from exercising first thing in the morning.
The benefits of an early morning workout routine are not mere claims; they are scientifically proven. Better sleep, improved decision-making skills, and increased energy are all backed by research. So, when you start your day with exercise, you can be confident that you’re making a scientifically supported choice. Try it out for a week and experience these improvements for yourself.
Better sleep. Lingering thoughts about problematic occurrences during the day once disrupted my sleep. Sometimes, I still take my worries to bed, and my mind replays incessant thoughts about the stuff I didn’t complete. A few sleep studies that I’ve researched prove that many people who have insomnia share these reasons. Exercise has helped me sleep better. The National Library of Medicine conducted a study that demonstrated that light exercises in the morning improved sleep quality, but the reward results from consistency and frequency of physical activity. This study and others have found that aerobic exercises enhance sleep quality and are effective for insomniacs. Aerobic activity promotes relaxation, causing you to sleep longer and fall into deeper sleep cycles.
Improved decision- making skills. It’s not just a claim; it’s science. When you exercise, your blood circulates throughout your body, carrying more oxygen to your brain. This increased oxygen supply aids in clear thinking and focus, improving your decision-making skills, as explained in a 2019 article published by Psychology Today magazine.
Increased energy. As we age, we struggle with maintaining the same levels of energy we used to have. It is not wise to seek energy elevation from sugary sources like energy drinks. Instead, increase your energy in the natural way—Exercise. I admit that waking up to exercise early in the morning has its share of challenges, but midway through the workout, I can feel my energy shift upward. When I exercise in the morning, my energy seems to rise as the day progresses, and I don’t feel as energetic on the days I skip exercises. Some studies reveal that morning exercise boosts serotonin—a biogenic amine responsible for regulating energy consumption. A surge in serotonin also regulates your mood, which means you have more energy.
I encourage you to consistently establish a morning workout routine at least four days a week to determine how your body will react. If you need a little motivation to get moving in the morning, consider joining one of my classes at The Refuge at 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday. Our morning classes include a variety of exercises to suit different fitness levels and preferences.
Or you could establish your routine at home. Either way, start your day with movement.
I look forward to hearing about your experiences. Please share your results with me by sending an email to coach@pgf. life.
