Young County Commissioners Court

On May.13, the Young County Commissioners Court was called to order after standing for the U.S. pledge, and Texas pledge was recited.

Confirmation was given that Terry Coker of Graham had been approved to be hired to the position of the maintenance position for the courthouse, buildings and grounds.

Minutes from the last court were approved along with the treasurer’s financial report, which was approved with no amendments.

The commissioners discussed the jail’s remote sensor from Lansing Mechanical that would replace outdated sensors. The new temperature sensors would help save electricity for the jail. A motion to approve the funds of $2,670 from the jail development fund was proposed and passed five for and zero against.

There was a discussion about the county vehicles that did not meet minimum bids at auction came with the conclusion to check with surrounding police entities then place ads to sell the vehicles in various papers as far away as Fort Worth to attract better offers and interests.

A closed session was held to discuss Belltown Power Texas, a business prospect the commissioners seek to have located in Young County.
