The Word in Spanish

The Word in Spanish

Iglesia de la Comunidad de Esperanza

At the Tower of Babel, God confused the languages of man as they refused to disperse after the Flood. At Pentecost, the followers of Christ were miraculously able to speak fifteen languages. (Acts 1:2-12) Over the centuries, God’s servants have simply been given a job and done it - even if that job is as monumental as creating a church service in two languages. All things can be done through God’s Almighty Hand.

If you wish to join Hope Fellowship in their bilingual service, it is held at 5 p.m. every Sunday.

With an increasing number of neighbors and friends in Olney who do not speak English, the need for a Spanish- language service was evident. After visiting with a couple of community leaders, God opened the door to a pastor at a bilingual church in Abilene called True Light Global Ministries.

When Pastor Rolando Fiegerris was asked about starting a Spanish Church in Olney, his response was “absolutely” and that his church family had been praying for such opportunities.

Pastor Rolando and his wife Lucy visited within three days and were able to meet several of our Spanish speaking families. The following weekend, the first Spanish-language service was held at Hope Fellowship.

Services began Saturday evenings at 5:00 p.m. followed by a meal and fellowship. Within several weeks, the services were moved to Sunday evenings at 5 p.m.

Paul and Anne McQueen noted that communicating with Latino church members can be difficult (and Google translate is used a lot), but that the friendship and love is genuine. God’s Spirit breaks through the language barrier and allows us to worship together. The Spanish service is usually bilingual so the Word can be heard in Spanish and English.

Come out and meet our Spanish community and enjoy the fellowship of friends and family. Jesus prayed in John 17 that His followers would be one, as the Father is in The Son, and The Son is in The Father.

Let’s make that happen by learning to worship together in One Spirit. When we lift our voices in praise, whether in English or Spanish, you can be sure that The Lord is Glorified.

The Word has never been exclusive to anyone but was meant to be shared with all peoples. Paul McQueen wants all people to hear The Word and bring all to Christ Jesus and The Holy Spirit has given him the means to do so.
