Why we named our son Olney

A little over seven years ago. My wife and I were blessed with a son, and she was gracious enough to allow me to name him Olney. I chose this name because most of my favorite memories were from time spent with my grandfather, Richard Lunsford, in Olney. I am not from Olney but as of a few years ago I have the pleasure of calling young county home. Growing up and visiting my grandfather was always special because of the memories he created and time spent with him. Simple things that those from Olney would do every day were the most wonderful memories that are seared in my mind. Going into Olney Hardware, fishing, hunting bullfrogs, and eating Roges hamburgers, are just to name a few.

I desired for our son to have a special name that would not only remind me of the past but of the present and future as well. A name that would have meaning to our family.

Many in the area know our son as OT. He is loving, smart and a hard working. He gets it all from his mom. OT became both a little and big brother in the last couple years and by the grace of God he is excellent and exemplary at both. The way he loves and cares for his sisters is an example to me in how to practice humility graciousness and compassion. Most days if he is not playing with his sisters then he is playing soccer or engineering a new contraption with any materials he can find.

I asked OT the following questions: Q: What is your favorite thing about the town of Olney?

A: That my dad works there. Q: What would you like to tell the people of Olney?

A: I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Q: What do you think the most important thing in life is?

A: Reading the Bible.
