Two arrested in Olney Family Church burglary

Olney police arrested a man and woman for allegedly burglarizing the Olney Family Worship Center at 205 E. Howard Street on June 18.

Taylor Mayes, 23, and Bethany Lynn Ramey, 21, were sleeping at the church with their dog, and had stolen food and money from a donation jar for the church’s youth group as well as the church’s deposit slips and checks, Police Chief Dan Birbeck said. Church officials called police at about 2 p.m. to investigate what appeared to be unauthorized people inside the locked church and parsonage, a police report said. They had loaded some items in a wagon, the police report said.

Ms. Ramey had three outstanding arrest warrants and drug paraphernalia in her possession and was charged with burglary of a habitation, burglary of a building, failure to appear and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Mayes was charged with burglary of a building and burglary of a habitation.
