Texoma Gives Returns to Olney Sept. 12

On Thursday Sept. 12, the Annual Texoma gives fundraiser will be put on by the Refuge. It has served as a platform for more than 190 nonprofits and 3400 donors, that have helped raise more than 1.2 million dollars since it has begun.

The Refuge—which is the Olney Christian Community Center--has been one of the nonprofits that has participated in Olney for four years now.

In 2018, The Refuge raised $157,574, which they will try to outdo at this year’s fundraiser.

“The proceeds will be used to support all of our programs, such as elementary tutoring, arts, karate, and fifth-quarter,” said Office Manager Kristy Nantz.

Texoma gives will be open all day from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. while serving breakfast burritos in the morning and pulled pork sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The funds raised will be used to “first and foremost to honor God with everything that has been donated,” that to me is their mission statement. To preach the gospel according to the commandment of God or the Holy Bible, to strengthen the community to support the local churches and to strengthen the families,” said Rodney Nantz.

“It’s a really good time to focus on all the nonprofits involved such as the Senior Cub Center, the library and the education foundation. So it’s just a really good time to kind of look around and look at your community and see what there is to offer and what you can support,” ,Kristy Nantz said.

The Refuge looks forward to everyone stopping by on the Sept. 12 to support the community and see the impact everyone in Olney can have.

Other participants in Olney will include the Olney Community Library and Arts Center, the Olney Education Foundation and the Olney Senior Cub Center.
