Terry Snow sentenced to 45 year term in child sex case

Terri Gail Snow of Olney accepted two concurrent 45-year prison sentences in two cases of indecency with a child at July 30 plea negotiation, District Attorney Dee Peavy said.

Ms. Snow faced five to 99 years to life for the two felony charges which were enhanced by a 2016 felony conviction for possession of a controlled substance, Ms. Peavy said.

The plea and lengthy sentence are the most recent in a string of child sex abuse cases that Ms. Peavy has vigorously prosecuted.

“The crimes are of such a despicable nature and I want to send a message to our community that I will vigorously prosecute those cases,” she said. “The harm that is done to children in these cases is for a lifetime. It’s not something that goes away quickly it is something that they will deal with for the rest of their lives.”

Olney Police Det. Dustin Hudson searched through hundreds of hours of jail phone calls as part of a “meticulous investigation” that resulted in the stiff punishment, Olney Police Chief Dan Birbeck said.

“The sentences the Olney Police Department has secured with the great work of the District Attorney’s Office should send a clear message to predators in our community: if you violate our children you are going to spend the better part of your life in prison,” he said.

Olney police records show that Ms. Snow abused two teenage victims between January and March of 2023.

Police arrested Mrs. Snow in January after the first teenage victim told school officials that he had been sexually abused on multiple occasions, according to a police affidavit.

The juvenile victim told a teacher at a school in another jurisdiction, that Ms. Snow’s incarcerated husband, Dusty Shane Snow had instructed the teen by telephone to perform sex acts on her while Mr. Snow listened.

Det. Hudson arrested Ms. Snow after obtaining several phone recordings of conversations between January and March 2023 from the prison, the affidavit said.

Police learned about the second victim during a forensic interview with the first victim in February, according to a March 13 police affidavit.

The second victim affirmed that he and Mrs. Snow had a sexual relationship that began about two weeks before Mr. Snow went to prison.

The victim stated that Mr. Snow was on the telephone during the sexual encounters, the affidavit said.

When interviewed in Wichita County Jail, where she was residing, Mrs. Snow confirmed that she and the victim had sexual intercourse in a performance for her husband on the phone, the affidavit said. The cases are in pretrial hearings, court records show.
