Students attend science and engineering fair

Will Stewart, Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Chemistry teacher, had the chance to take Jaxx Laurent, Colby Johnson, Camron McComack, Ava Stewart, Morgan Simmons, and Aidyn Bitner to the Red River Regional Science and Engineering Fair Expert Panel Discussion on the Oct. 2 in Wichita Falls.

Stewart felt that the experience could be very beneficial to the students in getting inspiration about making their own science projects.

“Students were able to learn about the panelist’s history in research and learn about the educational and career backgrounds of each. Students were also given time to ask questions to try to narrow the scope of the research questions they intend to pursue in order to present and compete at the Red River Regional Science and Engineering Fair in February 2024,” Stewart said.

The science fair offered information on many topics and gave students and teachers opportunities to ask and answer questions about science, engineering, and more.

“After the discussion with all of the panelists, students were able to sit down with any of the panelists for a few minutes and talk one-on-one about their ideas and research in general.” Stewart explained. “The session overall was beneficial to students to help them with formulation of research ideas and gave an insight into some new areas of study that some may not have thought about yet,” Next February there will be another Red River Regional Science and Engineering Fair and this conference will prepare them and give them ideas for future projects and experiments.
