Wow! That ol’ full moon started beaming down brightly on Feb. 5, so this is a chance for you and your sweetie to spend a little time together gazing at the lovely moon. This full moon is known as the Snow Moon or the Storm Moon because of notorious snow storms that plague February. Mars, Venus, and Jupiter will be visible to the naked eye this month (another chance for you and your Valentine to spend a little more time together). On Feb. 26, you will have a six-hour window to see the Pleiades Star Cluster. About twilight it can be seen to the lower right of the half-moon. Enjoy your sky-gazing!

Yippee! We got some much-appreciated moisture last week. Whether rain or sleet or snow, we are very grateful for that plant-loving moisture. A few days of ice and inconvenience is worth the outcome. The doors at the Center were closed Tuesday and Wednesday because of inclement weather, but meals were delivered. We do love our volunteers who brave the weather to deliver warm meals all about town. Accolades to them!!

Feb. 12 will be here soon and my mouth is already watering at the very thought of that warm, savory bowl of soup and cornbread followed by that decadent dessert! It’s an early Valentine treat for sure. Snag yourself a $7 ticket ( or pay at the door) that Sunday and come to the Cub Center for a great meal and warm fellowship between eleven and two o’clock. Y’all come !

Staying warm is sometimes a challenge during winter’s harsh blasts. Dress warmly with layers of clothing. It is just fine to don a sweater or jacket inside the house. If you are concerned about increases in your heating bill, try leaving the thermostat at a lower than usual setting, wear warmer clothes and try using a heater in the room you stay in most often. Covering up with a throw or blanket will also help keep the chill at bay - do what you can to stay warm, this is no time to be a fashion-ista.

Be compassionate for others, check on your neighbors, especially those older ones with disabilities. Kindness is always appreciated and is a great indication of your character. Just be kind.
