Sons of Confederate Veterans Form New Camp in Young County

The Sons of Confederate Veterans form a new camp in Young County. The L.P. ”Pink” Brooks camp was officially formed and welcomed to Young County Saturday at Fort Belknap.

Judge John C. Bullock welcomed the new camp, and some of the history of the Confederacy at Fort Belknap was spoken of by Jim Hammond.

The ceremony included dignitaries from all over the state of Texas, including Texas Division Commander John McCammon, second Lt Commander of Texas Division Kyle Sims, Texas Division Adjutant Allen Hearrean, and third Texas Brigade Commander Barry Turnage.

The Lt. L.P. “Pink” Brooks camp #318 was formally formed, the charter signed, the camp flag was presented, members oath was administered, and the Officers were sworn in with solemn ceremony.

Officers for the L.P. Brooks camp are Jon Aubrey, Commander, Aaron Gragg, Kevin Sullivan, Mike Brooks and Bill Isham.
