Snow trial

Snow trial delayed over evidence, logistics

A trial has been delayed for an Olney man charged with child sexual abuse and witness tampering as prosecutors await lab results on evidence in the case and coordinate witness appearances, Young County District Attorney Dee Peavy said.

Justin Snow, 41, was set to go on trial this month on first-degree felony charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child connected stemming from an Olney Police Department investigation into an outcry made by the victim. Mr. Snow was arrested on Aug. 30, 2021, in Olney and remains jailed in lieu of $380,000 bail. He faces up to life in prison if convicted, and will not be eligible for parole, Ms. Peavy said. His mother, Dolores Snow, also faces a charge of witness tampering, Ms. Peavy said.

“We’ve had to put [the trial] off. Not all of our evidence is back from the lab so we really want to wait for that to come back before we go to trial,” she said, adding that prosecutors are working on “getting witnesses here and logistics.”

A new trial date has not yet been set, she said.

Adding another wrinkle to the case, Mr. Snow’s defense attorney, Mark Houston Barber of Wichita Falls, has been arrested twice this year in Wichita and Archer counties, county records show. Mr. Barber remains the attorney of record on the case.
