OLNEY LIBRARY NEWS

Babygarten is Back Beginning Jan. 2 through April 16

The Olney Community Library has the Babygarten program returning in January.  We would like something to be printed in the paper each week until Babygarten starts (Jan. 10), and then a little reminder each week afterwards - with possibly the lesson plan for each Babygarten week.  For now, we would like to put the following information in the newspaper. There are 3 different logos attached to this email.  If we could include a logo, that would be great, but if it doesn’t work, that is okay also.   The Olney Community Library and Arts Center continues the Babygarten program every other Friday starting January 10.  Babygarten is open to parents and babies ages 0-3.  Parents must accompany their babies to the library and stay with them for the entire program.  Babygarten will meet every other Friday from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. starting Friday, January  10, 2020.  Parents who are interested in participating in Babygarten with their babies should stop by the library to register.  Babygarten is much more than a play group! Infants and their caregivers will share nursery rhymes, songs, and books but also get a chance to make fun projects that demonstrate the babies’ developmental milestones—usually a homemade toy or baby book item. Many projects and activities will emphasize the importance of reading to babies AND parents will learn how to do this most effectively. We will also share insight about infant development and parenting. This class concludes with a free play period.  The Babygarten dates are:  Friday, Jan. 10;  Friday  Jan. 24 ; Friday Feb. 7;  Friday, Feb. 21; Friday, March 6; Friday, March 20;  Friday April 3 and Friday April 17.  The first week, January 10,  babies and parents will read Jamberry by Bruce Degen and Eat! by Roberta Grobel Intater. We will explore texture with a Vanilla Pudding Bunny along with singing fun songs, reading nursery rhymes and ending with playtime for parents and babies.

On Friday, January 24,  parents and babies will read Eat! by Roberta Grobel Intrater and I Love You Sun I Love You Moon by Karen Pandell. We will make a Word Diary for the craft along with singing fun songs, reading nursery rhymes and ending with playtime for parents and babies!
