Olney Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary installs new officers

The Olney Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary installed new officers at the meeting Wednesday, Jan. 12, located at the Olney Hamilton Hospital Education Center. The officers elected included Ann Lundy—president, Nita Hearne—first vice president, Bobby Wright—second vice president, Phyllis Whitsitt—Treasurer, Pam Farmer—secretary, Margie Snyder—Assistant, Judi Winslow—gift shop co-chair and Donna Sullivan—gift shop co-chair.

The newly elected president Ann Lundy explained the functionality of the Auxiliary.

“The purpose of the auxiliary as a nonprofit service organization is to raise money for the hospital to be able to purchase things they need that may not be part of their annual budget. For example, we just voted to donate $3,000 towards a fetal monitoring system that will benefit pregnant patients and their unborn babies,” Lundy said.

Lundy has been a member of the auxiliary for 12 years and is stepping into her role as president for the first time. She said she is even more passionate about the hospital and the staff for the exceptional care they gave to her and her family after losing her daughter and husband within six months of each other.

“There are no words to express the love and care the entire hospital staff gave to my family and me during our time of loss. The emergency room staff took good care of my daughter Paige while she was there and equally cared for my

“There are no words to express the love and care the entire hospital staff gave to my family and me during our time of loss. The emergency room staff took good care of my daughter Paige while she was there and equally cared for my husband, Tom, who had spent three months at the hospital for the past year and a half,” Lundy said. “The love those nurses had for them is just very special to me.”

Lundy said as president, she plans to be an ambassador for the hospital and hopes to get the community to recognize the value of Hamilton Hospital.

“The main thing I want to do is to grow and encourage community support not just for the hospital but also for the wellness center and family clinic. We are fortunate to have a hospital, and I‘d hate to imagine our community without it,” Lundy touted.

The auxiliary is always open to inducting new members willing to work. Lundy said they don’t want people who are not serious about promoting the hospital.

“We need people that are reliable, and when someone commits to volunteer, realize that the auxiliary is depending on you,” Lundy concluded while emphasizing the Auxiliary’s Volunteer Pledge that states:

“Believing that the hospital has real need of my services as a volunteer worker, I will be punctual and conscientious in the fulfillment of my duties and accept supervision graciously;

I will consider as a confidential all information which I may hear directly or indirectly concerning a patient, doctor or any member of personnel, and will not seek information in regard to a patient; I will take any problems, criticism, or suggestions to the director of volunteers;

I will endeavor to make my work of the highest quality; and, I will uphold the traditions and standards of this hospital and will interpret them to the community at large.”
