Olney in America Car Show

We had a great turnout for the 1st Annual Olney in America Car Show. There were 32 cars and motorcycles registered to compete. Only three of these won cash prizes, and five more were winners of “Best in Show” plaques. We were so pleased at how many showed up – you just never really know how many to expect with sameday registration. We hope to build this event and make it even better in years to come, and we hope to see all of these competitors plus more next year!

Sponsoring the event was Stewart’s Food Store and First Baptist Church of Olney. We also had partnering sponsors Olney Auto Tire & Lube, as well as NAPA Goldsmith Supply Co. of Olney. These generous sponsorships are what make it possible for the Chamber of Commerce to have such great events. Anyone that is not a member of the Chamber from Olney or surrounding areas is encouraged to join. Your support creates opportunity here in Olney, and enables us to give back to the community and to businesses to help facilitate economic growth – to make Olney the best place to live and work!

Jason Pack of Stewart’s Food Store is very passionate about getting the car show back up and running, and the Chamber is so appreciative that we were able to pull off a successful event with his help. To ensure success, Jason generously donated the trophies awarded to our winners, and he also helped spread the word to many groups of car enthusiasts from surrounding areas. It’s because of his hard work and dedication to this event that the Olney Car Show will live on.

In addition to the 32 vehicles that registered, we also had around 15 vendors with a wide array of goodies. There was a little something for everyone. It was great to see how many came out to support our local vendors, as well as our downtown stores and eateries.

Our goal of having the event downtown was to get people to notice us as they passed through, as well as to create some excitement on Main Street. Developing a busy Main Street with many stores and places to congregate is a goal that is ongoing for the Chamber. We want to bring life into Olney, to get people out shopping, supporting local, and feeling a sense of pride for what Olney has to offer.

Thank you to everyone who came out and spent the morning with us on 9/11. We also want to congratulate the One Arm Dove Hunt on their success. What better way to remember those that lost their lives 20 years ago on 9/11/2001 than to spend time together, meet new people, and to appreciate the lives we have been given – and to remember the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have fought to protect America.
