OJH partners with Olney Enterprise

Olney Junior High is excited to be teaming up with the Olney Enterprise over the next three months as we gear up for our UIL district competition. The goal in featuring some of our most competitive and creative writers is to provide our UIL writing teams with more practice and exposure before they put their pencils to the real test in November.

The junior high has two writing teams at each grade level. Those competitions are Editorial Writing and Ready Writing. In Editorial Writing, students are encouraged to think critically and analytically about an issue, select and develop a stance and support that stance with logical writing. Ready Writing allows students to be more creative and original in their expression, yet there is still an expectation for students to be clear and concise in putting their thoughts on paper.

Our students on the writing teams, grades six through eight, will be competing amongst each

other for the prize of being featured

in the Olney Enterprise. This is such

an honor not only for those students competing, but for the school as well, as we get to showcase a talent in these students that does not often get the chance to shine publicly. We appreciate this opportunity and the collaborative spirit of the people at the Olney Enterprise!
