OISD hires first grade teacher

Olney Elementary School’s newest addition this coming school year will be first-grade teacher Misty Hackley who comes to Olney from the Electra Independent School District where she taught third grade. Hackley is one of 19 new teachers and staff members joining the Olney Independent School District for the 2022-2023 school year.

Hackley brings 20 years of teaching experience to her first-grade class. She graduated in 2001 from Midwestern State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and is certified to teach grades 1 through-8.

Hackley and her husband of 24 years, Daron, have two children: Bryson who is a teacher and coach at Nocona High School and Zane, who will be a freshman at Texas Tech University this year.

“I grew up in Bowie and attended Midwestern State,” Hackley said. “This will be my 20th year in teaching. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, friends and reading.”

Hackley said she is “ looking forward to building a relationship with the children and staff ” at Olney Elementary School.
