Dear Olney Citizen, The Keep Olney Beautiful Board considers it a privilege to serve the city of Olney. Our mission is to improve the quality of life through various projects and events that brighten the town and bring the community together. We are thankful to call Olney home and we will continue striving to help make Olney the best small town in America.
In 2022, Keep Olney Beautiful installed lighting at the entrance monuments on the east and west ends of town providing a warmer welcome for those returning home, coming to visit, or passing through. We also replaced all disc golf tee and yardage markers at the Tom Griffin Park as many were damaged or missing. Looking ahead to 2023, we have plans to upgrade our Main Street light post banners and downtown light post fixtures for a more vibrant drive through town.
Accompanying these minor projects, Keep Olney Beautiful has set our sights on a brand-new city pool as our key focus for 2023. As supply chain disruptions and increased costs delayed our implementation of this third and final phase of the Tom Griffin Park renovation project in 2022, another summer of excessive heat coupled with the unfortunate closure of the city pool has placed a heightened sense of urgency on the need to provide all citizens with an opportunity to safely enjoy the outdoors during the summer months. Due to the irreparable condition of the existing pool, this project will require the construction of a new pool in a new location providing a fresh look for the Tom Griffin Park to complement the walking trail and playground area additions. We are very excited to start this project and are encouraged by the potential for grant funding and community backing to complete this project within the next 12-24 months.
