House of Mercy: Blessed and a Blessing Resident Morgan Long

The House of Mercy is a faithbased facility that helps those struggling with alcohol dependency, drug abuse, homelessness and many more issues people may be facing. It is a live-in facility that helps its residents overcome life problems through the teachings of Jesus Christ and a strict daily routine.

Morgan Long arrived at House of Mercy in April of 2022 and has successfully graduated to phase two of the program. Long said she will begin looking for work soon. Long said what she likes best about the House of Mercy is how the classes go into great detail about the Bible, God, God’s works and God’s plan for Christians.

This is Morgan Long’s Testimony: “Hi, my name is Morgan, and I’m 22 years old. Growing up, I went to church and I was a strong believer. I lived an okay life. At 18, I got pregnant with my first child. I graduated high school early. On November 12, 2018, I gave birth to my daughter. I was the happiest I had been my entire life. But that happiness didn’t last long. On November 23, 2018, I had to make the hardest decision any parent would have to make. A took my daughter off life support because she was considered brain dead. Ever since that day, I’ve been angry with God. I questioned him and the things he had me go through. I stopped going to church, listening and speaking to God. Since then, I’ve made many bad choices that I am not proud of. That led up to me becoming homeless living in my car. When I was told about the House of Mercy, I wasn’t too excited because I was still angry. Since joining, I’ve been learning slowly not to be angry, to be more open to listening to God and learning more about him. It’s still a work in progress. But the House of Mercy saved me in my relationship with God. I’m truly grateful for this place and its works. One of my favorite verses is Ephesians 4:31-32. It says, “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice and be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another even as God and Christ forgave you.”
