Get ready to kick that sugar habit at The Refuge
Personal trainer Ronni Walker invites the community to start planning for a 21-day, post holiday sugar detox at a Thursday, Dec. 19 meeting at The Refuge at 6:15 p.m.
The meeting is open to everyone and is meant to help participants plan to start their sugar fasts on Jan. 1 -- and to kick it off with a three-say juice fast starting Dec. 29-31.
Participants who attend the meeting and sign up for the sugar detox will receive a packet that contains information on how to sugar detox along with supportive resources, a foods list, daily devotional and menu ideas. Also participants will have the option to call in for additional support via the 30-minute daily conference call from 6:30-7 p.m. each day.
The sugar detox is the first of four 2025 P.R.E.T.T.Y. Fit for Life challenges by P.R.E.T.T.Y. Girl Fitness LLC [PGF], Ronni said.
“The primary reason why I’m kickstarting the new year with a sugar detox is to provide support to people recovering from the overindulgence of sugary and unhealthy goods consumer during the holidays,” she said. “A sugar detox will allow the body to cleanse and reset to get you back on track with healthier eating.”
Additional perks associated with joining the group detox challenge: 1. Detox Guide that includes a detox calendar, recipes, menu suggestions, healthy foods list, what to expect during the detox.
2. Opportunity to connect with others who are detoxing via the PGF Facebook challenge group.
3. A daily 30-minute conference call with inspirational words, Q&A and a weekly drop-in by a licensed psychologist.
4. A PGF Q1 workout schedule featuring morning and evening fitness classes at The Refuge.
The free classes include: - 5:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. spin classes three times per week, - HIIT Bootcamp and step classes twice weekly will help cleanse the body of toxins and ease the stress of the detox, she said.
“Some of the PGF fitness classes are designed to maximize calorie burn and cortisol reduction, which helps subside sugar cravings, increase energy levels, and improve sleep,” Ronni said.
